Agricultural initiatives

To address high unemployment among college graduates, the Palestine Aid Society – Detroit Chapter, in partnership with the Democratic Youth Union, Wasel for Youth Development, and Al-Awda Center in Tulkarm Refugee Camp, has supported the establishment of agricultural cooperatives for groups of 5–7 young graduates each. These initiatives provide sustainable income opportunities through projects such as grapevine and strawberry farming, which continue to generate both produce and livelihoods for participants. In commemoration of Land Day on March 30, the chapter also launched the “Plant a Tree in Palestine” initiative. Through this program, donors in the United States sponsor trees that are planted in their name during the month of March by partner organizations on the ground. The initiative aims to preserve Palestinian land and protect it from confiscation, particularly in areas located near settlements.a
